Here are a few photos of Sea Kayaking at Bodega Bay from a few weeks ago.

Amazing beach weather for January. 4 good weekend days so far this year.

5th-Jan-2009 10:50 am - Crab Saturday [crab]
I caught some Dungeness Crab on Saturday. Since I am never able to catch fish, only crabs that eat my bait and hang on to the line until I get them to the surface, I figured I would definately be able to harvest some crab.

I had bought a couple crab hoop traps and tried them out at Doran Beach in Bodega Bay.

I took the traps out on my sea Kayak with Salmon heads for bait, and paddled out to about 200 feet off shore and put them in 30 feet of water.

I caught five crabs in less than an hour, 4 Dungeness. 2-3 were probably legal, but only one was for sure, and I left the measuring stick in the car.  I brought it in but it wasn't really worth bringing one crab home to cook, so we let him go back to the sea.

It was mostly a test of the site, and for sure Crabs are there. With a couple more hoops, and a 4 hour window instead of 1 hour, I could easily get enough crabs for a feed.

Unbelievably, our spot on the beach was t-shirt warm during the early afternoon on January 3rd, clear blue sky and not much wind.

We will probably be going again a few times to really catch some crab in the next few weeks if the weather is nice on the weekends.

I have noticed over the last month or 2 a bizaare occurance happening when I search the internet for business or professional services.

When I arrive at a listing, the phone number I am looking for appears in place for a few seconds.....AND THEN DISAPPEARS.

today a medical billing company, last month my dentist. The number appears, then disappears. If I refresh the page the phone number comes up for a few seconds again, and then disappears. It does not even stay up long enough to write down the number in one view.

Today I managed to copy the phone number and paste it into word, so I could see it. Going back to the web listing, there was no text present to copy, and nothing "invisible" that the cursor could grab onto so the number just disappears completely.

Has anyone else experienced this ever?

See if it happens on your browser. When I go to this link the phone number disappears in less than 5 seconds.

Palin as Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.

The old rancher said, ‘ Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.’

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.

The old rancher said, ‘ When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.’

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. ‘ You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.’

Thank the gods!

My most recent batch of IPA came out awesome! Tasty, hoppy, refreshing, and fully CARBONATED.

The last two batches came out completely flat.

At least the last one was drinkable if you mixed it with a carbonated beer or soda.

the second to last batch was horrible tasting and flat, I had to pour out almost the whole batch except for the 6 beers or so I forced myself to drink.

Now I can drink copious amounts and forget about all the bad news out there.

A couple weeks ago Kim, Kelly and I went Sea Kayaking at Tomales Bay. Quite a nice day. More photos on flickr....

Kelly and I were trying to catch Halibut, but all we got were seaweeds. Better luck next time....
